Minnesota United signed veteran forward Juan Agudelo to a one-year deal with a team option for 2022.

Agudelo, 28, had three goals in 14 appearances (nine starts) with Inter Miami CF last season. The club declined his contract option last December.

Signed as a Homegrown player by the New York Red Bulls in 2010, Agudelo has 229 MLS appearances (141 starts) with 49 goals and 22 assists.

He made his debut with the U.S. men's national team before his 18th birthday, becoming at the time the youngest player in USMNT history to score a goal. In all, he made 28 appearances with the team.

"We just think he's going to be another really valuable squad player for what's going to be another really hectic year with the condensed program schedule, and for us to bring somebody in who we know can play in the MLS, play three or four positions, he can play through the middle, he can play wide right, wide left," Minnesota head coach Adrian Heath said. "Nothing is going to faze him. He had a really good impact last year when he played for Inter Miami. I think it's a really good pick up for us."

Agudelo has spent his career with the Red Bulls (2010-12), Chivas USA (2012-13) and New England Revolution (2013, 2015-19) before joining Inter Miami.
